These pros/cons notes come from myself or other CMs that I know personally using the product. There's plenty of other notes and comparisons out there, but hopefully this gives you some more personal insight into these products.

Notes:
- TikTok:
- Currently most of the mainstream solutions do not have tools for TikTok or Snapchat, whether it be listening, scheduling, or analytics.
- If they do have have them, it's usually a manual push which means the asset and information will be pushed to your phone usually via an app notification, and then you can post it.
- Instagram:
- Due to API restrictions, external softwares cannot currently push Instagram Stories, Reels or IGTV videos. You can schedule them through the software (text + visual asset), but you will need to install an app on your phone and manually push the story live when the time comes. It's fairly easy, but can be finicky as you need to make sure you're logged into the right account before posting.
- Carousels were fairly recently opened up, so some platforms may not support it just yet. For the ones that do, check that they post consistently in the order you prepare them in, some of them shuffle the order when they actually post.
- Twitter:
- Very few things outside of basic tweets can be done through 3rd party software due to API restrictions. Things that still need to be done through Twitter proper include:
- Threads*
- Polls
- Fleets
- Videos with custom thumbnails
- Video polls
- It seems like Twitter threads can be scheduled through this website. Haven't tried it myself yet.
How to pick a scheduler
- Budget
- While many of these platforms offer a free tier or trial, there's really no reason to waste your time if the specific tools or features are going to be outside of your budget. Make sure to check out pricing pages and see how much your particular use case is going to be. If there isn't a pricing page, get ready to sit down with a sales rep who will cater the pricing to your needs and budget (usually these ones are significantly more expensive!).
- Platforms
- If you're posting on various different platforms, you'll probably want a paid platform that posts on the majority of them.
- Features
- A bunch of these platforms have additional non-scheduling features, like analytics or listening. They also can have features like updating your Instagram bio link when a post goes out. You'll need to weigh these various options and see which ones are the most valuable to you.
- Personal Preference
- The good thing about social media scheduling software is that a lot of them have either free trials or a free tier to checkout before you need to get out the credit card or sign any contracts. Social media needs and flows are unique to everyone and your exact situation might be better suited to a certain platform even if it didn't work for someone else!
